Listing Type : Gun Battery
Location : Europe

This battery was set up in 1940, after the fall of France, to provide protection of fast moving seaborne craft.  The battery fired salvos of 2-inch unguided projectiles, creating a large beaten zone, in which is was hoped any enemy vessels would be caught. This site retains the lids to the rocket lockers and their are some holders for stacking the rockets.

There is a small download here of a note prepared by Alistair Graham Kerr concerning the Radiator Batteries of 1940.  Obviously an urgent attempt to defend the coast and little is recorded of them: https://fsgfort.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/Web+Site+PDFs/Radiator+Batteries%2C+AGK121.pdf
