On the 5th December there was a Trustees Meeting and on the 8th December a Management Committee Meeting. Minutes will be out in due course and they will posted on the site when available.
Some of the Key Points (note: Tours are only open to paid up FSG members) :
France March 2019 Tour is on. Now full and final details being planned.
France May 2019 Tour is off. Problems with access to sites and cost. This will probably be replaced by a trip to Greece. A wide variety of fortifications from pillboxes to Venetian Bastion defences. Watch this space but this is rated as an excellent replacement with the chance of better weather. (Just in from Paul B who is organising this – “we can say a tour of the Peloponnesus will definitely be on, the only uncertain thing at the moment is the cost”. Estimate at the present is about £1,200 for all inclusive. The pound fluctuations are not helping.
Hong Kong January 2020 (originally in Nov/Dec 2019) is now being finalised and deposits have been asked for. A busy schedule, with Fall of HK, Bogue Forts in Humen (Opium Wars), Macau and Victorian defences of Hong Kong.
Sydney, Australia given the green light for UK summer 2020. Deposits will be sort shortly.
Fort 45 should be on your doorsteps by the end of January or early February 2019. Articles being considered range from WW2 Defences of Delaware Bay, British Coastal Defence Ordnance on Disappearing Carriages in China (Brilliant I have read the draft), Imperial Defence as Exemplified by Two Island Forts in Bombay (Mumbai) Harbour and a lot more.
Casemate 114 should be with you in January 2019 but this awaits confirmation from the printer.
Lots more has been discussed and some decisions made, the information will be circulated before Christmas by the Secretary by electronic mail.
Some of the pins (as illustrated in this post) are available in the shop for £5 including postage.
